Frequently asked questions
WHAT IS YOUR BOOKING PROCESS?
Once we have had an initial discussion and chatted all about the upcoming date you are looking to book, a signed contract is required to officially book and hold any dates. Three months before your wedding date, a 50% initial payment is due.
do you offer discounts?
Yes I do! Please refer to my pricing page to see if you’re eligible for a discount. I also have a referral program for my past clients that is also on the bottom of the pricing page.
HOW MANY IMAGES WILL WE RECEIVE?
Depending on the type of session you choose, I send about 25 - 50 photos per hour for normal sessions and around 50 - 70 photos per hour for weddings to my clients.
How/when will I receive my photos?
For hourly sessions, photos will arrive within 1 - 2 weeks. For weddings and elopements, the images will be available in 3 - 4 weeks through a private online gallery.
How do you store our images and for how long?
I store all of your images on an external hard drive. I’ll keep the images on the hard drive for 1 year after the gallery is delivered. For online galleries, I typically have the images up for 90 days for you to view and download. Therefore, it is important that you download all the photos as soon as possible. I suggest backing up all of your images on an external hard drive or cloud service immediately upon arrival.
Do you give RAW unedited digital files?
I do not. Post-processing your images after your wedding or session is one of the most important parts of the overall experience. It’s where all the magic happens. As photographers, we want to make sure that you only receive the best of the best. Therefore I only provide the final edited images in your online gallery.
Do you retouch your photos?
I firmly believe in “less is more.” I always try to photograph my clients as naturally as possible while conveying the emotions that were felt at that moment. While I do not airbrush any photos, I can get rid of any pimples or distractions in the background. If you’re self-conscious about something, please let me know as I’ll be extra aware of that while I’m posing you. Additional or complex retouching services are available for extra costs. Please contact me for rates.
Do you pose and direct us? Or are you more documentary style?
I do a little bit of both! There will be certain parts of the day where I can give you directions to help you and your partner feel more relaxed and comfortable in front of the camera such as sunset couple portraits. Other times, I simply document moments as they happen such as the first look. The unplanned moments are usually the best!
Do you travel? How do travel expenses work?
Of course! Traveling is one of my favorite things and I get so much inspiration from seeing beautiful places. Costs for travel vary depending on location, but if it is outside of California, I add on the airfare/mileage as well as accommodation to your package.
Then let’s make this thing happen! Head over to my contact page to submit your inquiry

Testimonials
Such a great experience with Makito! Our photos are soft and vintage and moody looking and that’s what we wanted. He was very calm and was present when necessary and knew how to morph throughout the wedding and take candid photos and capture special moments we didn’t even know anyone was paying attention to. Loved it!
This review is long overdue! Makito was such a pleasure to work with during our engagement photo session! He made my fiancé and I feel very comfortable during the session. He captured great photos! Would definitely recommend!
Working with Makito was amazing. In addition to being super talented, he is incredibly kind and also very organized, such a pleasure to work with. Communicating with him was great. He is quick to response, easy to work with, accommodates many of my requests. We had a lot of fun during the shoot. I'm very pleased with the finished pictures and wanted to say thanks for capturing special moments!
This was the first time we ever had a family session done and we're so glad we went with Makito. He is professional yet laid back and very easy to work with. He answered all of our questions via email and phone plus drew up a contract detailing our agreement. We chose one large location with multiple small ones within, so there was some traveling involved but Makito was very flexible with our plans. We booked a 2.5 hour session with an outfit change in between. The amount of time was perfect and Makito suggesting a time closer to sunset was genius. He even got our senior dog to look at the camera in some photos. We are quite indecisive and awkward when it comes to posing but the photos turned out beautifully and will be treasured for years to come. Thank you so much, Makito!
I had my graduation photos takes last week by Makito, and I love the way they turned out! They look so professional and nice. The whole process of booking with him was very easy, and he’s a very kind and professional photographer. He helped me pick poses for my photos which made it so much more easier for me, because I wanted the photos to come out looking nice. My whole family loved the photos and the best part is you can order it directly from him, at a very reasonable and good price! If you’re looking for a photographer for graduation (or any event really!) you should definitely book with Makito! Thank you for making my graduation photos special!!
Makito did a great job! He was super flexible in setting up the photo session and returned the beautifully edited photos quickly. I usually get nervous taking photos on my own because I never know how to pose but he was helpful in making everything easy and light-hearted, which I appreciated. Definitely recommend!
Working with Makito for my graduation portraits was a great experience! He was very patient in helping me find a tricky location that I specifically wanted for my photos. The photos came out great and were very easy to access. I would definitely work with him again!
Makito was an absolute pleasure to work with for my recent graduation pictures (especially for awkward picture takers like me)! I couldn’t be happier with the photos taken, he returned the photos quickly and were easy to download/order prints, and he couldn’t be friendlier. Thanks, Makito!
Amazing photographer! Highly recommended. Patient, talented and creative. Please book him for a grad shoot you won’t be disappointed!
If I could, I would pay Makito to travel with me wherever I go. His eye for photography and getting that 'particular shot' blows my mind every single time. The way he accentuates the landscape + a human being in a photo is one that is hard to replicate. If you randomly showed me one of Makito's photos, I immediately identify that it's a 'Makito Portrait'. I love shooting with him because he knows how to bring out the good in every photo. Such a great and talented photographer and I'm glad that I met him along my journey in California.
