Heavenquest: A Pilgrim's Progress Film Red Carpet Premiere Event | Los Angeles, CA
Two weeks ago I had the amazing honor of photographing the red carpet premiere event for Heavenquest: A Pilgrim’s Progress. Rachel and Dan aka King Street Pictures produced the film with director Matt Bilen.
I got to know Rachel and Dan earlier this year when our mutual friend connected us and asked if I could take photos for their daughter’s 4 year old birthday party. Fast forward a few months later, I get asked by them if I can take photos for their event. I’ve never shot a red carpet premiere event before so I was a little nervous. At the same time, I thought this would be a great opportunity to challenge myself and be in an environment that I normally wasn’t used to. Although I was extremely exhausted after the event, I had so much fun capturing the raw and authentic moments of the night.
According to Dan, he began writing the script alongside Matt 4 years ago during the time when Dan’s daughter was being born. During the Q&A session, Matt recalled thinking about possibly giving up on this project one day. It was then that he felt the Lord telling him to persevere and continue making the film. Eventually, his team was able to produce it with a $250,000 budget. After watching the movie I was stunned to hear that since the movie looked like it had a million-dollar budget.
Taken from CCM Magazine:
“HEAVENQUEST shares the story of a man named Vangel who is thrust on a journey against his will. There is a war between the Northern and Southern Kingdoms of Eos, and Vangel has been mysteriously arrested. Brought to the Southern King and sentenced to death, Vangel escapes and flees North. Armed only with a book called The Record of the Ancients that he receives from a wise sage, Vangel embarks on an adventure through haunted forests, dark swamps, and enchanted mountains. Along the way, mysterious travel companions assist him, sharing about a fabled good king and pushing him onwards towards the Wicket Gate, the gateway to the North, while enemies lurk at every corner trying to derail him from his path.”
